So you’re online browsing or your scrolling through Instagram and you see that someone is selling something that you like. From the looks of the photo it looks great and you can see yourself wearing it. It appears to be in great condition and its in your size. The price seems fair, so you’re ready to go ahead and contact the seller to make a deal…..but before you do that think about these things:
Tip #1: Read the comments from previous posts. This will tell you how well the seller does customer service. If they respond back to people who comment and if they comment back to people who asks questions, thats a great seller. If something should go wrong with your purchase will they likley respond back to you.
Tip #2: Inquire about their return or exchange policy. When you buy things online and especially over social media there is no guarantee that you’ll like it once you see it in the flesh. If the return or exchange policy seems legit then go ahead with the purchase if they don’t offer one then buy at your own risk.
Tip #3: Piggybacking off of Tip #2: If you’ve seen that same image of that same garment is floating around on Social Media, may I suggest that you dig a little more in your research to find the original poster. The seller maybe an imposter.
Tip #4: If they have a website, perfect! Go to it immediately. There is where you should be able to find more information about the product such as width, length, inseam, cut, etc..
Tip #5: Always, always know your measurements before you shop online and on social media. Your size 6 may not be their size 6. What you think is a medium, may be a large or small to them. This is why you’ve got to check their measurements against yours. And if they cannot supply measurements then go back to Tip #2.
Tip #6: If you buy from them and you like it and wear it be sure to give them a shout out on your Instagram or other social media page. It’s a way of saying thank you.
Tip #7: When buying accessories such as handbags, wallets, belts, watches, etc. be sure to get information on how they authenticiate their products. No sense in spending a ton of money on a product that is a knock off or replica when you could have purchased the real thing.
If you follow these simple tips you should be able to shop resale online with no major problems. If you have any tips that I didn’t list but want to share please comment below. I would love to know what they are.
